About Freestimator

Freestimator builds free calculators that show homeowners what a project should cost before they talk to a contractor.

Why we exist

Getting a roof, driveway or fence quote can feel like guesswork. Most cost guides give one national average that rarely fits your home, and quotes for the same job can vary by thousands of dollars. We built Freestimator so you can enter your own measurements, see every line item, and walk into each contractor conversation knowing what a fair price looks like.

How we build our estimates

• Published data, cited openly. Every calculator draws on current cost data from established home-improvement cost publishers, and each page lists its sources.
• Assumptions in plain sight. When a calculator uses our own planning assumption, such as a cost-of-living adjustment, we say so on the page.
• Ranges, not false precision. Real prices vary by region, contractor and condition, so we show a low, typical and high estimate instead of a single number.
• Regular reviews. We review prices at least once a year and show the review date on every calculator.

What we are not

We are not contractors, insurers or lenders, and we don't sell your information. Our estimates are planning tools. Always get written quotes from licensed local professionals before you hire.
